This is the 4th post of my March Focus on adding Texture to your card. Today I'll show you how to use embossing paste with a stencil, as we've done, and then add embossing powder to heat emboss on top of the embossing paste. You'll love how it looks!
I was inspired by a Paula at www.oneluckyday.net
The first print will be done with adding ink to white card stock, then embossing with a stencil and heat embossing by adding embossing powder to the wet embossing paste.
The embossing powder seems to sizzle even more than when used with VersaMark. We won't need VersaMark with this technique.
I used re-inkers, Orchid Oasis, Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party, the In-Colors of 2022 - 2024 or if you're reading this later than those dates, a dark lavendar/blue, red, lime green.
Take any non-porous surface - I used a piece of window sheet as a palette. Drop a couple of drops from each re-inker, then spritz them with water from the Spritzers.
Use one blending brush per color and swirl it onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
Choose your stencil, and with the palette knife, smooth embossing paste across a portion of the stencil or the whole thing, making sure to tape it down first so it doesn't move.
Immediately put the stencil and palette knife in a dish of water because it dries fast.
While the paste is still wet, sprinkle it with embossing powder, and set it to dry in a warm or sunny place. The original instructions call for the embossing paste to be totally dry first before you heat emboss with the heat gun. But after this first print, I omitted that step and heat embossed it right away. It speeds up the drying of the embossing paste as well as heat embosses the powder in one step.
The second option, is to use Designer Series Paper, a pre-printed design. Choose a stencil that will NOT cover the design completely and use an embossing powder that will enhance the design.
I used the Seaside Bay DSP (Mini catalog Jan - Apr 2023) and added a small amount of copper Embossing Powder.
I also used the Pretty Prints and stenciled a portion of the print with white only.
Use the same technique. Secure the stencil over your paper to your work surface, and work quickly to apply the embossing paste on the area you desire - whole or partial. Remove the stencil and place it in water. Sprinkle with embossing powder, shake off the excess, though it will adhere quite nicely. Heat it with your heat tool, embossing the powder completely.
Trim your print and layer your unique textured design on cardstock.
