SEASIDE BAY & QUILT

Seaside Bay – Stamp. Paper. Ink. Die cut. Dry Emboss. CASe (Copy and Share) from Julie Heitz, Cardmaker of Quilts & More, my fellow team member and Independent Demonstrator  with Stampin' Up!

SUPPLIES:

Cardstock: to coordinate with DSP – Pool Party or Balmy Blue A2 size card base. (8 ½” x 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼” and folded.)

Top Layer DSP – 2 ½” x 5 ¼” Navy Cardstock – 3 x 4

White Cardstock Layer – 2 ¾ x 3 ¾”

Inside White Layer – 2 ¾ x 5 ¼”

Quilt edge strip – 3 squares: 1 3/4" x 1 3/4” of coordinating DSP

Dry Brushed Metallic piece for die cut shell, optional

Seaside Bay stamp sets

Soft Suede Ink

Sentiment for inside

Sentiment for outside, on scrap white cardstock

Adhesive

Grid Paper

INSTRUCTIONS: Make the quilt edge strip first. Cut the 3 – squares in half, corner to corner. May use scissors or cutter.

With a piece of grid paper or lined notebook paper, place the 6 triangles of DSP in a pattern, using both sides. When you’re happy with the pattern, glue it as straight as possible to the paper. Trim the edges with a cutter making sure they are straight and no extra grid paper is showing. Set it aside

Cut 1 ½” off of the front of the card base, so that the remaining front measures 2 ¾” from edge to fold. (Photo does not show the 2 3/4" from the edge removed.) Set this piece aside and use it as a layer for the sentiment on the front. See finished card for the piece removed.

Navy layer is 3" x 4".  White layer is 2 3/4" x 3 3/4". Designer Series Paper (DSP) is 2 1/2" x 5 1/4".

Attach the Top Layer of DSP to this front, centering the paper so that there is a ¼” border around the DSP.

Stamp the large bird and assorted seashells to the lower part of the top white layer, with Soft Suede Ink. Center this top white layer on the Navy Cardstock. To attach this piece to the front, MAKE SURE the glue or adhesive is only on 2/3 of the back so NO adhesive extends to the area that will close on top of the inside pieces.

INSIDE: Using a small pattern embossing folder, run the quilt piece through your Cut N Emboss machine which will make the strip look quilted. Lay it along the edge of the inside and trim if needed if you want it to be the same length as the card OR the same length as the inside white layer.

Before you add the quilt piece or the inside white layer, stamp the shell on the bottom of the white layer. If you stamp first before you attach the piece to the card then if you make a mistake, you can flip it over and use the other side.

Also, at this point decide if you want the quilt strip to go under or on top of the white layer. (This photo does not show the quilt strip embossed.)Attach them both.

Optional – Die cut a shell or two out of the Metallic paper and attach to the front.

Lastly, add a small pearl embellishment to the front.

You have created a masterpiece! Ink. Paper. Stamp. Quilted. Die Cutting. Dry Emboss.
