No Mistake Fixable Pattern #1

In card making, we believe "There are No Mistakes" - that aren't fixable! And in this case I had to cut my card apart to fix it. My "Fixable" proved to be a new design for cards with just a few pieces.

This is Fixable Card Pattern #1

This is the way it started out.

It is the card on the lower left.  The mistake was the result of gluing paper with a one-way design in the wrong direction, trying to fix it with an added piece (not shown) and ..... well, I'll spare you the details of the mixed up mess.  Using my own mistake, I invite you to look at your mistakes as Fixable!  Read on to see the design that came about because of it.

Here's what I used for "No Mistake Fixable Pattern #1" -

Base: 1 piece of cardstock 5  1/2" x 4  1/4"

Front cover/hinge piece:  Double Sided Coordinating cardstock or paper  4" x 6" (double sided because you're going to see both sides of it)

Top Layer: Coordinating cardstock or paper  3" x 4"

Inside layer: Cream or very vanilla cardstock  4 x 4 3/4"  Using cream with a 1/8 inch on each side, was the "game changer" which made a dark card pop.

Ribbon or trim - optional

Sentiment tag - Cream cardstock  3 1/2" long

Instructions:

Make the 4x6" Designer Series Paper (or your choice of double sided paper) piece into a hinge fold. Score along the 4" side at 2". Fold, then glue down to the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" base.

The direction of the print and the coordinating 3x4" top layer will determine if your card is portrait or landscape.

Attach the cream layer which extends 1/8 to 1/4" on each side.

Attach ribbon or trim to top layer before gluing to front.

Attach top 3x4" layer to the hinged piece, centering it.

Add your sentiment tag, extending it to the right beyond the edge of the top layer.

My "Fixable" became a card with a few pieces. And instead of it being just a fixable mistake, it is a card idea that can easily be made in a short time.  I'm hoping you'll see that with a few changes, you can remake a mistake into a useable card.

You can find the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card by clicking on the link - the words in pink!
