I didn’t design this project. I don't really know what its called. I found it in my scrapbooking supplies that I kept from 15 years ago.
I recently saw another Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator, Tina Zinck's demonstrate this envelope gift card & treat holder which is a small pocket made out of an envelope. She instructs on how to fold any size
envelope in half, and use one side to enclose a candy or treat, or gratuity for
a server in your favorite café. I used
one of those today, and plan to make many and use them regularly for anyone who assists me - its a tangible Thank You!
After making about 10 of them, I realized this was the perfect time to show you how to make this Envelope Pocket Card or Envelope Card? but I’m not sure what to call it. It’s an envelope with a pocket to be used for a gift, or a card, or a gift card. So here’s the words I’ve thought of when I tried to name it:
CARDELOPE, ENVELOPE CARD or maybe ENVELOPE POCKET
CARD. I’m expecting you to give me your
ideas too.
For this project I’m using a Number 10 Business Envelope (US
and Canada), but you can use this pattern for any size envelope that will result in a pocket space and a gate fold card. I've used Stampin's Up! Designer Series Paper, beautiful Eden's Garden.
The No. 10 Envelope is: 4 1/8" high by 9 1/2" long or 4.125" x 9.5"
Find the Center - Fold envelope in half but do not crease it. Pinch one end of the center to mark the half way point. Open it back up and fold in each end to that center point. Crease down each side. Now your envelope is shaped like a gate fold. The fold line is visible here near the bone folder.
Add ribbon before you add coordinating papers to the gate folds. Open the envelope and lay it flat. Measure the length of the envelope (which is 9 1/2" ) then add 6 inches on each end, about 22". Glue down with a fine bead of glue for the full length of the envelope.
You are left with 4 panels that are the same size – 2 on the outside (gate fold) and 2 on the inside. The center space (under the gate fold) of the Cardelop or Envelope Pocket Card, is a pocket for a treat, currency or card and gift card.
Gate Fold Layers are 2 1/2 x 4". Cut two for the outside and two coordinating pieces for the inside.
Inside of the gate fold
Outside of the gate fold and back.I a I added a layer of Basic White cardstock and the beautiful floral edging cut from Eden's Garden.
Closing the Envelope Pocket Card - It can be closed over the pocket on the inside, or on the outside.
7 Mailing. That last consideration, but actually the first consideration is how you will deliver your Cardelope or Envelope Pocket Card to the receiver. If it is square it will require extra first class postage in the U.S. The ribbons will add extra bulk in an envelope so make sure that you take that into consideration if mailing it. If it is part of a gift or the gift in itself, it is all set.
No. 10 Business Envelope - No. 10 Business Envelope from Dollar Tree. Make sure to choose a flap that is straight across and not a triangle

This Envelope Pocket card will be a perfect way to give a gift card or monetary gift. It has space for a card and sentiments on the gate folds too, for a special occasion or someone special. It doesn't need wrapping but enclose it in a 5x7 envelope for mailing.
So what do you think we should call it? Post your responses below!
T Thanks for stopping by. Be blessed! sb
