SHINING LIGHT CARD

This design can be used for Christmas, Winter Solstice, Easter or any occasion where the focus is to add a little light.  Imagine how cute it would be to use it as a campfire light!

While I don't know the original designer or what its design is called, I can tell you that this card that includes a space for a tealight candle to shine through is easy to make and fun to share.

Card Base:  A2 which means folded, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"  with the fold at the top.  Black or dark cardstock works well for this.

Designer paper Layer:  4 x 5 1/4"

Vellum Layer: 4 x 5 1/4"

Tools:  Paper punch, Dies, Glue Dots, Glue, Score Tool, Pencil

Once your card base is folded to the A2 size, use a punch or die to cut one to three holes where you'll want the light to show through.  Make sure not to get the holes too close to the fold or the edge.  A good rule is that they be at least 1/4" in from any of the 4 sides.

Take your Designer paper and line it up under the holes - find the center spot in each hole and make a tick mark with a pencil.  This will be your guide to where you can punch or die cut.   Now cut the holes according to the tick marks you've made.

Attach the vellum to the top of the card base, over the holes.

Attach the Designer Paper over the Vellum, lining it up so no vellum is showing on the edges.

To make the shelf that the candle sits on, cut a piece of cardstock the same color as Card Base, 5 1/4 x 2 1/2".  Score 1/4" down the long end on each side. Score in the middle at 1 1/4" . Fold down the 1/4" edges.  Glue one side to the inside back and one side to the inside right. The fold in the center will fold up when you close the card for sending.

Place a tea light candle on this shelf and enjoy the light coming through your card.
